Plot.
The young, despotic and untalented artist Adolf Hitler comes to Vienna to study art. He befriends the Jew Schlomo Herzl working on a novel with the title "Mein Kampf". Hitler is rejected by the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. Herzl's concern for the sad young man continues, and leads him to a new career with disastrous consequences for world history.

Die Film Mein Kampf aus dem Jahr 2009 is a 2009 film adaptation of the play of the same name with Tom Schilling as young Hitler, Götz George as Schlomo Herzl and Bernd Birkhahn as Lobkowitz under the direction of the Swiss Urs Odermatt. Filming locations were Vienna, Zittau, Zgorzelec, Herrnhut and Székesfehérvár. The premiere was in Canada in August 2009, German release was on 26 March 2011.
