Kara Saun

Kara Saun is an American fashion and costume designer and the CEO of Kara Saun LLC, an LA-based fashion and costume design house.Saun appeared on season 1 and season 20, an all-stars season, of the series Project Runway. Prior to her appearance in season 1, Saun had been considering giving up on a career in fashion in Los Angeles. She recalls lying "on the floor of a girlfriend’s apartment...and I was like, ‘God, I need a sign. Should I stay or not?” She said she received a call from the show's producers later that same day telling her she had been cast. She recalls wondering whether, besides sewing, she would be required to do other then-typical reality show stunts such as eating worms.Saun has designed for Queen Latifah, Zendaya, Zoe Saldana, Snoop Dogg, Eve, Heidi Klum, Kevin Hart, Juliana Hough, TLC, Mary J. Blige, Jaime Foxx, Busta Rhymes, Lauryn Hill, and Eddie Murphy, and Jabbawockeez.

Saun was the costume designer on the Disney Channel’s Descendants franchise. MTV’s America's Best Dance Crew (1-5), and NBC's The Sing-Off (1-3). She has a teen-oriented project, "The Fashion FairyGodmother", which gives unhoused and foster children and teens makeovers.Saun was born in Germany. She has named her mother, Barbara Anne Saunders, as a mentor and source of inspiration for her designs.
