Yuki no taiyō () is a manga by Tetsuya Chiba published from 1963 to 1969 by Kōdansha. Mushi Pro tried to make an anime adaptation in 1972, entrusting the screenplay and direction of a five-minute pilot episode to Hayao Miyazaki, who officially debuted with this work as director (as for the series The Adventures of Lupin III had co-directed the episodes together with Isao Takahata). However, the final result did not convince the producers, who therefore blocked and cancelled the creation of the series.
