Since a little girl received from her grandmother a red cap which the child prefers to wear, she is called "Red Riding Hood" everywhere. Red Riding Hood lives with her mother and her five brothers in a cottage on the edge of the forest. Since the father died, Red Riding Hood brothers work as lumberjacks to care for the family. The little girl helps the mother as well as it can in the household. As Red Riding Hood's grandmother falls seriously ill, the mother has to take care of her while the girl does the work at home and also prepares the food for her five brothers.
