Plot.
In the middle of the 19th century, almost one in three women were killed in childbed fever. Hungarian physician Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis also observes these terrible events in his Vienna clinic. He comes to the conclusion that it is above all the unhygienic conditions in the clinic itself that lead to this disease, since his colleagues constantly swing between the anatomy and the delivery room. He tries to convince the medical community of the absolute necessity of thorough disinfection by chlorine lime washing of the hands He encounters fierce opposition from his colleagues until he himself builds an exemplary clinic in Budapest.
