Plot.
Germany, 1909: The life of the lieutenant-chief Walter von Suhr seems to run in orderly orbits - the wedding with Tilde von Grävenitz, the daughter of the president of the government of Potsdam, is imminent, and also of Suhr's career rises steeply. But fate has provided something else for the young man. At the "First International Flight Week of Johannistal" Walter is packed with the idea of becoming a plane. He suspects that the future lies here, also for the military. When his colonel refuses him special leave, Suhr acknowledges the military service in order to develop a safe, reliable aircraft together with the locksmith Menzel.

Target in the Clouds (German: Ziel in den Wolken) is a 1939 German drama film directed by Wolfgang Liebeneiner and starring Albert Matterstock, Leny Marenbach and Brigitte Horney. It was based on a novel by Hans Rabl. The film portrays the struggles of the fictional German aviation pioneer Walter von Suhr, an officer in the pre-First World War German army who saw the potential for military aircraft.The film's sets were designed by the art directors Otto Erdmann, Hans Sohnle and Wilhelm Vorwerg. It premiered at the Ufa-Palast am Zoo in Berlin.
