Dracula () is a 1980 Japanese animated television film directed by Minoru Okazaki and produced by Toei Animation and Marvel Comics. Inspired by Bram Stoker's novel, and adaptation of Gerry Conway's "The Tomb of Dracula", Archie Goodwin, Gardner Fox and Marv Wolfman, published by Marvel Comics from April 1972 to August 1979. Much of the main plot has been condensed and many characters and sub-frames have been cut or omitted. The film is poorly distributed on cable TV in North America in 1983 by Harmony Gold doubled in English with the title Dracula: Sovereign of the Damned The film was broadcast in Japan August 19, 1980 by TV broadcaster Asahi. The Italian edition, edited by Oceania Film, was distributed by ITB and broadcast on some local televisions in 1984. It was then published on DVD by Mondo Home Entertainment.
