The ambitious and enterprising Penny is a gallerist and has inherited a prestigious exhibition space from Samuel, who could be his father, and instead is Adrian's father, an artist without self-esteem and initiative. Adrian has always fallen in love with Penny, but she ignores him and takes all the artists he hosts in his gallery to bed, and then frees herself without regret. It happens to Nathan and then to Roy, who is the only one to voluntarily leave Penny, turning his back on success: both will face a terrible fate in the hands of a dark avenger. Just as terrible is the past of Penny, the daughter of a drunken artist abandoned by the wife who chose to unload her frustrations on her daughter.
