Plot.
Vittorio (Fabrizio Bentivoglio) lives of expedients in the sleepy Venetian province of the 1930s. One day he meets a very rich Italian American who came to Italy to find an illegal wife and starts to propose to him a series of girls. But he falls in love with the chosen one and tries to deceive the promised bridegroom. However, these are a gangster who came to Italy to kill a rival: and Vittorio himself will be accused of the murder.

Red American (Italian: Americano rosso) is a 1991 Italian comedy-drama film. It was the directorial debut of Alessandro D'Alatri, who was awarded the David di Donatello Award for Best New Director for his work on the film.The film also won the Globo d'oro, the Grolla d'oro and the Ciak d'oro for the cinematography by Alessio Gelsini Torresi.
