Plot.

The incidents of this story are some of those preceding and leading up to the Civil War in 1861 and the Declaration of Emancipation. The central figure in the drama is Uncle Tom, a slave initially in the possession of the Shelbys of Kentucky. A 1927 re-release of this film cut the original runtime in half, and in its extant, fragmentary state, it runs 14 minutes.

Wiki.

Uncle Tom's Cabin is a 1910 silent film directed by James Stuart Blackton. It is one of many film adaptations of Harriet Beecher Stowe's famous novel. Previously, the story had been brought on screen in two versions of 1903 and one of 1909. As in all versions produced at the time in theatre and silent cinema until 1914, African American characters were played by blackface actors: Edwin R. Phillips, Florence Turner and Mary Fuller It is the debut on screen for Carlyle Blackwell, here at her first film and for the little Genevieve Tobin who later undertook a career as an actress, both theatrical and cinematic, of good success. It was at the time of a decisive innovation in the world of cinema: for the first time a US company made a dramatic film in 3 reels (until then, the films were up to 15 minutes and a single roll). In the same year, a film was released from the same title as Thanhouser, signed by Barry O'Neil with Frank Hall Crane as Uncle Tom.
