Ex-professional cyclist Simon Richardson has raced road, cyclocross, and mountain bikes for years - but the world of ultra racing is totally new to him. Jumping in at the deep end, Si takes part in the 400-mile ultra race ‘Further East’ - a gruelling mixed terrain course around the East of England. Racers will embark on a totally self supported gravel route that takes in the Cambridge levels and the Norfolk Broads. They’ll be expected to continue to race non-stop through the night if they want to win. What will an ultra rookie make of this unknown challenge?
