A thirteen-year-old girl, Varka, lives in a shoemaker's house, where she performs the duties of a nanny and works on the farm. Slave labor and lack of sleep exhaust the girl. Her only desire is to sleep. But Varka is not allowed to sleep. Baby crying becomes a girl's main nightmare. One day she finds a solution to her problem.
