In the 1970s, Jarno, an overlooked stage crew member of a popular traditional theatre, dreams of stardom despite being demeaned by the lead actor, Arjuna. After a disastrous debut leads to a violent reaction from villagers, Jarno leaves to pursue solo fame. He teams up with Supri, an opportunist, to become a traveling horror storyteller.
