Plot.
Maria Josè was the daughter of the king of Belgium and she was betrothed to Umberto di Savoia, the son of Vittorio Emanuele III, the king of Italy. The movie tells her story from her teens, when she was a Red Cross nurse during World War I until her exile in 1946.

Maria José - The last queen is an Italian mini-series of 2002 directed by Carlo Lizani and originally aired on Rai Uno on 7 and 8 January 2002.The mini-series tells of the events of Maria José of Belgium, the last queen of Italy, played by actress Barbora Bobuyová. The production covers the life of the king's wife of May from Florentine childhood, to the marriage to Prince Umberto, to her short reign.The mini-series was published in 2009 by Elleu Multimedia in a box containing two DVDs.
