Plot.
American filmmaker Julia Loktev, born in the Soviet Union, returned to Moscow in 2021 to make a documentary on the persistence of independent media journalism in Putin’s Russia—just months, as it turned out, before the country’s invasion of Ukraine. The documentary premiered at the 2024 New York Film Festival in the Main Slate section on October 13, 2024 at Francesca Beale Theater.
The film had its international premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in Berlinale Special section on 20 February 2025.
