Plot.
The trial of Yeshua Ha-Notsri is led by prosecutor Pontius Pilate who believes in the innocence of the accused but is forced to sentence him to death. This biblical story is set in present-day Germany.

Pilate and Others (German: Pilatus und andere - Ein Film für Karfreitag) is a 1972 German drama film directed by Andrzej Wajda, based on the 1967 novel The Master and Margarita by the Soviet writer Mikhail Bulgakov, although it focuses on the parts of the novel set in biblical Jerusalem.
The film has the subtitle Ein Film für Karfreitag (English: The Film for Good Friday) because it was released on March 29, 1972, on the eve of Easter. It was also shown at the Berlin Film Festival on February 15, 2006, when director Andrzej Wajda received an Honorary Golden Bear.
