Four old friends, Lorenzo Colombo (Massimo Boldi), Silvio Morandi (Maurizio Ferrini), Giovanni Sbarigia (Antonello Fassari) and Tonino Castagna (Nino Frassica), meet at a meeting for former students of the University of Bologna after 15 years. After a goliathic night, the four decide to unknowingly of their families to crown their old dream: the crossing of the United States from coast to coast. Giovanni decides to leave with friends to unknowingly of his wife (on holiday in Senegal with his children) and not to be discovered with very little money and with the awareness that he cannot use credit cards. Silvio, a convinced communist, had initially to leave for Crimea, but is left by his companion and thus decides to join the Tonino gynecologist to whom the idea of the trip came (initially thought for a solo trip).
