Plot.
Five orphans, Virgola, Carnera, Sonna, Tà-Tà and Il Capo, whose parents died during the bombing in the war, live together in the basement of a house ruin guarded by an old porter. One day, a hole in the basement wall, through which Virgola, the smallest of the boys, can crawl through, is cleared by brittle bricks. In the previously unknown room, he finds several cassettes filled with 1000 lire bills. But how are the five boys supposed to deal with the new wealth? They can't spend money without others noticing their find! They manage to win the trust of the young man Mario, who helps them to fulfill their most fervent desires with the money.
