Plot.

The seamy Jewish underworld of Odesa is the setting for Isaac Babel's story based on the life of gangster king Mishka Yaponchik "Mike the Jap" Vinnitsky. Murder is a way of life for Benya and his gang until he finds himself ensnared in a Bolshevik trap.

Benya Krik (Russian: Беня Крик, romanized: Benya Krik) is a 1927 Soviet black comedy silent film, directed by Vladimir Vilner and starring Yuri Shumsky as Benya Krik.

The film depicts the career of a Jewish Russian gangster, and was based on the Odessa Stories of Isaak Babel. The main setting is the city of Odessa.
