Plot.
Erik Dahl escapes from prison where he is serving a sentence for smuggling. He seeks out his family, but the police have already been there, and he will have to flee. Erik alters their appearance and start a new life as fishmonger in a small town, but he plans to leave the country..

Ukjent mann (Unknown Man) is a Norwegian black-and-white crime film from 1951 directed by Astrid Henning-Jensen, who was also the screenwriter. The film is based on Arthur Omre's novel Flukten from 1936. Alfred Maurstad appears in the title role.
The outdoor scenes, which make up approximately 90% of the film, were shot in Åndalsnes, Bergen, and Copenhagen.
