Plot.
Ganesh comes from village to meet his uncle and his daughter Ammu. His uncle refuses to acknowledge his presence and does not want his daughter to get married with him. He meets his friends who are living in bad condition to achieve their dreams.

Punnagai Desam (transl. Land of smiles) is a 2002 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by K. Shajahan. The film was produced by R. B. Choudary under the production banner Super Good films. The film stars Tharun, Sneha, Kunal, Hamsavardhan, Dhamu and Preetha Vijayakumar with Devan, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vinu Chakravarthy and Malaysia Vasudevan playing supporting roles. Soundtrack is composed by S. A. Rajkumar.
R. Madhi and V. Jaishankar handled cinematography and editing respectively. It did reasonable business at the box-office upon release on 14 January 2002. It was remade by Shajahan in Telugu in 2007 with the title Nava Vasantham.
