Plot.
Dass specialises in small time kidnapping and has his own set of rules. The primary and most important among them is not to get involved with influential people. Three jobless youngsters meet Dass and the four take up an assignment for a hefty sum that throws away this primary rule and end up being chased by a dreaded policeman.

Soodhu Kavvum (transl. Evil Engulfs) is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language black comedy crime film written and directed by Nalan Kumarasamy in his directorial debut. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Sanchita Shetty, Karunakaran, Bobby Simha, Ramesh Thilak and Ashok Selvan. It revolves around a gang who kidnap a politician's son, and the troubles that ensue thereafter.
The film was released on 1 May 2013. Soodhu Kavvum received positive reviews from critics and became a blockbuster. The film was remade in Telugu as Gaddam Gang and in Urdu as the Pakistani film Chupan Chupai. A sequel titled Soodhu Kavvum 2 was released in 2024.
