Plot.
Fiete is nine years old and loves fishing. Each afternoon he spends hours sitting at a creek in his village. On one of these afternoons the peace and quiet is suddenly disturbed when two rowdies catch and kill a neighbor’s drake. The boys bribe Fiete to keep quiet about the incident, and he agrees out of fear. However, Fiete feels uneasy about keeping his secret, especially when the neighbor’s daughter starts desperately searching for the drake.

Filmdienst described the film as follows "Children's film that tells slowly and precisely, without any sensationalism, how a nine-year-old angler allows himself to be persuaded by two bullies to hide their evil prank of drowning a drake. His guilty conscience and a new evil act then make him reveal the truth."
The film, Siegfried Hartmann's directorial feature debut, "received harsh, ideological scolding because of a “lack of relevance to the times.”'
