Wiki.
The last grumete of the Baquedano of Francisco Coloane was adapted into a film. The original version was released in 1983, but was re-released in 2009. The documentary about the life and work of Francisco Coloane, who died in 2002, differs from the book because it presents important changes in relation to the original work of Coloane. Alejandro doesn't know any girls in the book and spends less time in Punta Arenas than he does in the film. In the book the action takes place in the Buque escuela Baquedano, while in the tape it takes place in the Esmeralda School.
