In the years of segregation, few opportunities were offered to African actors, who were forced to stereotype and humiliate themselves. The exclusive model for the girls was that of "Topsy", the little slave of Uncle Tom's La Capanna, a character who had turned into a caricature. The short film When Little Lindy Sang is an exception. One of the first women film directors in Hollywood, Lule Warrenton, and the author of the screenplay, Olga Printzlau, have merit. The film takes up one of the themes of Uncle Tom's La Capanna in the bond that establishes itself as the main protagonists of the cinematic fiction of the cinema in the short-livedish manner of the cinematic era. Along with her, she is an experienced actress like Margaret Whistler in the role of the teacher and a group that includes some of the best child actors of the time.
