Plot.
The film details the life of the gladiators in Rome in the 1st century AD, at the time of the construction of the Colosseum, through a fiction inspired by the life of a true gladiator, Verus. The film follows its course, reduced to slavery and sent in a stone quarry near Rome, which seizes its chance and becomes gladiator at the time when Emperor Titus completes the construction of the Flavian amphitheater, in other words the Colosseum. Verus is bought by a lanista ( gladiator coach) and trains in a ludus (school of gladiators). First defeated at his first public appearance, Verus then won several victories.
