In Madrid, a rainy autumn afternoon, two strangers offer to take Mercedes by car to his home. Ramon is serious and formal, while Miguel is a bohemian and carefree artist who feels immediately attracted to him. However, Mercedes accepts Ramon's offer which provides him with a comfortable and very different life than he would have had with Miguel, whom he has never been able to forget.
