Plot.
Willy Guggenbühl is a correct husband. With his punctuality, however, he gets on the nerves of his wife Margrit. An appointment with her childhood friend Roger Nyffeler does not change the situation. Only when Margrit demands the divorce, Willy realizes the seriousness of the situation. His neighbour Edi Leuenberger explains to him the secret of his marriage with Yvonne, namely always leaving enough room for jealousy so that no boredom arises. There is a meeting between Willy and Yvonne, where they talk about their marital problems. The evening ends in a drinking situation. Yvonne disappears without a trace. Edi searches for her with Willy, who by his behavior exposes himself to the suspicion of a side jump. While Edi gets angry and jealous, Margrit discovers a completely new side to her husband. Further entanglements eventually lead to the reconciliation of the couples.
