Plot.
Comedy about brothers Vesnushkin, Sasha and Vasya, who are playing for one team in a National Soccer Competition. However, Sasha falls in love with a beautiful girl and loses his confidence just before the final game, so his brother has to take the lead on the field in order to save the game.

The Boys from Leningrad (Russian: Запасной игрок, romanized: Zapasnoy igrok) is a 1954 Soviet sports comedy film directed by Semyon Timoshenko.
The film tells the story of a promising young footballer who steps up to save his team both on the field and in goal, while navigating romantic rivalry and unexpected challenges on a journey to the Trade Unions Cup final.
