Wiki.

The Carvoeiros is a 1999 Brazilian documentary film directed by the English Nigel Noble, who has a realistic style, at the age of 56 won the Oscar by the documentary Close Harmony, about a choral of children and elderly, from 1981. Known as "true cinema", for being filmed without a previous script and for faithfully treating the life of the carvoeiros, the documentary was inspired by the photographic essay "The Carvoeiros" by Marcos Prado (cinesta). Unlike the film, which the recordings lasted from April to May 1998, Marcos Prado spent eight years working on his project.
