Wiki.
A Christmas Carol is a 1943 television film directed by George Lowther. Based on Charles Dickens' novel Canto di Natale (A Christmas Carol), it is the first of many television adaptations of Charles Dickens' story, with a still experimental format. Protagonist is the English actor William Podmore. The first television versions were broadcast live and there is no recorded copy of them. A Christmas Carol was since 1943 a classic Christmas on American television, to be repeated every year with a script, a format and a group of different actors. The time press speaks of this production in very lusing terms both from the point of view of technical and expressive results.
