Plot.
Samrat is a psychopath who wants to take revenge on the person (Sundar) at any cost, who killed his father and damaged his mother's conduct. He believes that his late mother is still alive. Samrat wants to impose the same fate as Sundar's daughters. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Samrat is a 1997 Indian crime thriller film in Tamil directed by Sakthi Chidambaram (credited as C. Dinakaran) as his directorial debut. The cast includes Ramki, Vineetha, R. Sundarrajan, Thalaivasal Vijay, Sabitha Anand.
The film, produced by Lakshmi Karan with music by Manoj Saran and cinematography by S. Rajasekaran was released on 10 October 1997. It is a remake of the Hindi film Baazigar, which was based on the American film A Kiss Before Dying, written by Ira Levin. The film was a box-office failure. Two years after its release, the producers were given a ₹5 lakh (₹500,000) subsidy by the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. Karunanidhi along with ten other films.
