Plot.
A young bride, believing that her husband no longer loves her, invents the presence of a courtier to make her husband jealous. With the complicity of shopkeepers, she is sent home various gifts such as bouquets of flowers, jewels and even love letters, all in the constant indifference of her husband. The young wife then, together with a friend of her husband, prepares with him a fake encounter of love, communicating it to the consort with an anonymous letter. But the husband understood the game and prepares for the wife a countermouse, pretending to have a meeting with another woman always at the friend's house. After various misunderstandings and surprising events the two spouses reconcile.

The House of Shame (Italian: La casa del peccato) is a 1938 Italian "white-telephones" comedy film directed by Max Neufeld and starring Amedeo Nazzari, Assia Noris and Alida Valli.It was shot at the Cinecittà Studios in Rome. The film's sets were designed by the art director Gastone Medin. The film was the first time Nazzari and Valli co-starred together, as they would later go on to do a number of films.
