Naples, 1859. Capatosta (Amedeo Nazzari) is a rebel who opposes the Bourbon government who, in response, points out him as a brigand, putting a size on his head. The people, however, who know and share Capatosta's political aims, support him.When a young student kidnaps his girlfriend, who should marry an old notary who blackmails his family, Capatosta will take responsibility for it in order to foster marriage between the two young people.
