Plot.
A doctor must reach California but because of an accident of the carriage he must stop in the Valley of the Devil. With him the daughter, the sister and a young assistant travel. The group is welcomed by the local lord, a baron with bizarre ways who manages to marry the young girl ignorant of the true nature of man. Shortly after the girl asks the father who arrives just while in the valley rages an epidemic of smallpox. The man thinks well to inject the virus to the baron but the daughter discourages him from committing such a crime. Fortunately a landslide kills the Baron and the girl can finally marry the young assistant whom she has always been in love with.

The Valley of the Devil (Italian: La valle del diavolo) is a 1943 Italian historical drama film directed by Mario Mattoli and starring Marina Berti, Carlo Ninchi and Andrea Checchi. It was shot at the Palatino Studios in Rome. The film's sets were designed by the art director Piero Filippone and Mario Rappini.
