The father play is an Austrian film drama by director Michael Glawogger from 2009 based on the novel of the same name by the Austrian writer Josef Haslinger. The film addresses an oedipal conflict in combination with the familial treatment of Nazi crimes against the Jewish population and interweaves several strands of action. Characteristic for the film are numerous temporal leaps in the course of the action. The literary filming was performed in 2009 as part of the Berlinale.
