Biography
Gilbert Dalleu was a French actor of silent cinema, born on March 5, 1861 in Saint-Pont in the Allier, and died on March 1, 1931 in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, a few days before his 70th birthday, following a gangrene resulting from serious injuries during a car accident. Originally presented by Jean Grémillon to play the role of Father Bréhan in his film Gardiens de fare, in the spring of 1928, Dalleu was the victim at the beginning of the shooting of a serious car accident near Saint-Brieuc. Depleted from his right arm, he then found himself in the physical inability to continue the shooting of his scenes, which were temporarily interrupted. The actor Paul Fromet resumed the role a few months later. Dalleu did not have to recover from this accident. His leg injuries became infected and despite new amputations, he was due to succumb to gangrene two years later at the Lariboisière Hospital.
