Biography
Egyptian film director, screenwriter and producer. He won the Best Short Film prize for his 2019 semi-autobiographical film, THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED, at the Silicon Valley African Film Festival, which was later screened at over 30 International Film Festivals. His filmography includes his 2019 short road movie INHABITANTS OF THE NILE, and EPILOGUE, a short documentary which he created through the Self-reference Cinema Workshop in 2020. His project FLYING SALAMA has received the Production Grant Award from the 2nd edition of the Sunbird Stories Program. His upcoming short film project, IBN EL LEIL, has been developed in the Cinephilia Film Development Workroom and the Screenwriting Workshop at the El Gouna Film Festival by Film Independent. His work as a producer includes a co-production in OBJECTS ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR, which had a World Premiere in the 45th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, and SHAWKY which was selected in Scriptwriting Klink by Red Sea Film Festival and Goethe-Institut, in cooperation with the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg. He is currently developing his first feature film AN ENDLESS NIGHT as the project kicked off in Beirut Cinema Platform and enrolled in Cinephilia's Advanced Screenwriting Lab and Jumpstart Program by Durban FilmMart and Produire au Sud.
