Biography
Matthew R. Lacombe is a writer/director who was born in Barrington, Rhode Island to Susan (née Smith) and Robert Lacombe. Since he was a child, Matthew has been a filmmaker who frequently collaborates with his brother, Michael Lacombe.
Initially enrolled at the University of Rhode Island with a major in secondary education, Matthew transferred to Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts his junior year. Upon completing the film program within two years and graduating in the top fifth percentile of his class, Matthew dove headfirst into production on what would become his debut short film.
Matthew then released Regards from the Extemporary (2016), a character study of four individuals thrust into unusual circumstances when the main character, Greg, randomly takes in a homeless woman without any thought or preparation. This act of altruism is instead revealed to be a passive-aggressive tactic meant to irritate his uncouth girlfriend, which is most certainly successful. This morally ambiguous short highlights Matthew's style, both visually and narratively, and is available to view online.
Now based in Los Angeles, Matthew is an active filmmaker who continues to push boundaries with provocative stories that tackle societal issues.
