
Biography
Alfred Pongraz (29 September 1900 – 4 October 1977) was a baritone, actor and radio speaker of German nationality. Born in Munich, Germany, after completing his school studies, he went to M. Feuerlein singing school in Munich, graduating from 1928 to 1930 with singer Matthäus Roemer. At the same time he graduated from M. Olschinsky acting school. In 1930 he debuted on stage in Munich with the role of Zani in the opera of Joseph Haydn Il mondo della luna. From then on he fulfilled numerous commitments, both in musical theatre and conventional theatre, acting among other places in the Munich Chamber Theatre. In 1939 Pongraz debuted in cinema. For the great screen he usually acted in films of the genre Heimat as Im weißen Rößl (together Johannes Heesters) and Der Jäger von Fall (according to the novel by Ludwig Ganghofer), as well as in popular comedy such as Der verkaufte Großvater and fairy tales films (Zwerg Nase, Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten, Frau Holle). Pongraz was directed in five films by Joe Stöckel: Peterle, Die keusche Sünderin, Ein Herzchägt fürk, Iwei in einedelmuskandihr production and Aufrenztscher, as well as the director of the director Karlögührscher, as well as the director Along with Liesl Karlstadt, he played a recurring role in the family brandl series, released by Bayerischer Rundfunk. However, he was nationally renowned for his participation in children's radio broadcasts. After the death of actor Franz Fröhlich in 1964, Pongraz took on the role of Franz Eder in the series Meister Eder und sein Pumuckl, based on the stories of Ellis Kaut. Alfred Pongraz died on 4 October 1977 in Munich due to an acute myocardial infarction. After his death, his colleague Gustl Bayrhammer took on the role of Meister Eder.
