Biography
Marianne Chappuis (b. February 9, 1939 in Bern) is a Swiss actress. Already at the age of 15, the Bernese native decided to become an actress. After graduating from high school, she worked as a librarian for a year, but then went to Vienna to attend the Max Reinhardt Seminar. At the beginning of the 1960s, she became involved in the Burgtheater and the Theater in Josefstadt. Marianne Chappuis was to remain true to her life for the last time. There she was seen in such different pieces as Ferdinand Raimund's The Alpine King and the human enemy, the Arnold and Bach-Schwerk Hurra, a boy, Eugène Labiche's The Hausfreund and Johann Nestroy's The Evil Spirit Lumpazivagabundus, where she impersonated the Fludribus.Since 1964, the 1,72-meter-sized, narrow and brunette artist also stands in front of the camera. After a side role as a student in the Axel von Ambetter-Kinolustspiel Das lern ich von Papa was also seen by Marianne Chappuis in 1965 in a Lumpazivagabundus film version, in which she embodied Laura Palpit. The Swiss woman remained connected at irregular intervals to the film and television work, but was primarily regarded as a stage artist.
