Biography
Dmitry Antonovich Volkogonov, born in the village of Mangut, Chitinskiy okrug, RSFSR, USSR - Soviet and Russian historian, philosopher, political scientist and politician. Volkogonov's academic career began at the Institute of Military History, where he conducted research and wrote works on military history and the history of the USSR. Volkogonov is known as the author of numerous books on Soviet leaders such as Stalin, Lenin and Trotsky. His works are distinguished by a critical view of Soviet history and reveal many aspects of the repressive policies of the USSR. Colonel General (1986). Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Doctor of Philosophy. Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences since December 7, 1991 in the Section of Humanities and Social Sciences (History of Russia). Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation (1995 - posthumously).
