David Baszucki is the founder and CEO of Roblox, a popular online platform that allows users to create, share, and play games. Born on January 20, 1963, in the United States, he developed an early interest in technology and engineering. He studied Electrical Engineering at Stanford University and later co-founded an educational software company called Knowledge Revolution, which was acquired in 1998.
In 2004, Baszucki co-founded Roblox with Erik Cassel. Initially called DynaBlocks, the platform was renamed Roblox in 2005. Roblox allows players to create their own games using a simple scripting language, which quickly gained popularity due to its user-driven content and creative possibilities. The introduction of Robux, Roblox’s virtual currency, in 2007 encouraged developers to monetize their creations.
Over the years, Roblox grew from a small community to a global phenomenon, reaching millions of active users, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when people sought online entertainment and social connections. Roblox went public in 2021, marking a major milestone in Baszucki’s journey.
Baszucki’s vision was to make Roblox a platform for creativity and socializing, and today it is a key space for gaming, education, and virtual events. His leadership has shaped Roblox into a major player in the gaming and tech industries, creating a platform where anyone can become a creator and build their own virtual world.
