Biography
Whang Cheolmean is a graduate of the German Film & Television Academy of Berlin (DFFB). His thesis film, Fuck Hamlet (1997), was invited to both the Berlin International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival. After returning to Korea, he produced the documentaries Battle of Okcheon (2001) and King and His Sculptor (2002). In 2004, his film Spying Cam (2004) won the FIPRESCI Award at the Rotterdam International Film Festival and the NETPACK Award at the Brisbane International Film Festival. His later films, such as Let’s Finish! (2006), MOSCOW (2009), Morning Glory (2012), Oldmen Never Die (2013), and Jung Jo Mun’s Pot (2015) have been presented at various film festivals.
