Biography
Valérie Delpierre founded Inicia Films in 2006 with the aim of developing projects by up-and-coming talents and taking a special interest in their international careers. Since then, she has established herself as one of the most renowned and respected producers in the Spanish and European industry. In 2023 and 2024, she was named one of the 40 most influential women in international film by The Hollywood Reporter and, this 2024, has been also named as one of the 50 most influential women in Spanish industry by Forbes. Delpierre’s Inicia Films has been a key component of Spain’s female-led new cinema movement, supporting and encouraging emerging female filmmakers including Carla Simón (2017 Berlin Best Feature winner “Summer 1993”), Laura Ferrés (2017 Semaine de la Critique Best Short Film “The Disinherited”), Pilar Palomero (2020 Goya Best Film winner “Schoolgirls”), Estíbaliz Urresola Solaguren (2023 Berlin Silver Bear winner “20,000 Species of Bees”), Sandra Reina (2024 Goya Best Short Film nominee “The Bus”) and Klaudia Reynicke (2024 Generation Plus Berlinale Best Film) “Reinas”, among others.
Delpierre is an active member of the boards of the Producers’ Association PROA (former President and Vice-President), the Spanish Film Academy (representative on the board of the Documentary section) and the European Film Academy (former representative for Spain and Portugal).
