Biography
Roderic Evans (born 19 January 1947) is a retired British singer known as the original vocalist and a founding member of the rock band Deep Purple.
In the late 1960s, he began his professional career in The Maze, formerly MI5. He later became a founding member of the original Deep Purple, with whom he recorded three studio albums that were more pop-driven than the band eventually became famous for. After recording a solo single, he co-founded Captain Beyond, who recorded two studio albums. Following a brief legal battle with Deep Purple in 1980, Evans has avoided publicity.
