Trude Brentina (born 23 August 1899 in Vienna; † 31 July 1986 in Potsdam; actually: Gertrud Brentina) was an actress and dubbing actress who appeared in about 30 movies and over 50 television productions primarily for the DEFA and the television of the GDR. Early on, the daughter of the writer Ottokar Stauf became enthusiastic about the theatre, but had to learn a solid profession at the urging of her parents. After completing her training as a French teacher, she finally attended the acting school of the Staatstheater in Berlin from 1938 to 1939, followed by stage stations in Bielefeld, Hamburg, Berlin and Güstrow After 1945 she returned to Berlin, where she received a multi-year engagement at the state stages Brandenburg and the Potsdam Hans Otto Theater. From 1966 she worked freelance.Besides her extensive work as a dubbing speaker, she has also appeared in many film productions since the 1950s mainly on DEFA and television in the GDR – but mostly in smaller supporting roles.
