Robert H. Planck (sometimes credited to Robert Planck), A.S.C., is a director of American photography, his full name Robert Herbert Planck, born in Huntington, Indiana, on August 19, 1902, died in Camarillo, California, on October 31, 1971. Robert H. Planck began as director of photography in 1929 and collaborated in all of a hundred American films, many of which for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (including musical films), until 1958. Then he worked on television, on two series, between 1959 and 1965, before retiring permanently. He was once in 1941, with Joan Crawford and Melvyn Douglas), Robert Z. Leonard (e.g.: Weekend at Waldorf in 1945, with Ginger Rogers, Lana Turner and Walter Pidgeon), George Sidney (e.g.: The Three Musketeers in 1948, with Gene Kelly, Lana Turner and June Allyson) and Charles Walters (e.g.: The Belle of New York in 1952, with Fred Astaire and Vera-Ellen), among others.During his career, he obtained four appointments (see section below) to the Oscar for Best Photography, but did not win.
