Friedrich "Fritz" Teitge (* 8 May 1899 in Potsdam; † 6 October 1976) was a German actor at film and stage as well as a theatre director. Teitge had played theatre since the beginning of the Weimar Republic, but rarely received a permanent engagement. In the early 1930s he was demonstrably active as an actor and director at the Saxon Cultural Theatre in Chemnitz. From 1933 he remained unattached again and went to Berlin where Teitge played small roles in films. The noble charge in front of the camera remained true to Teitge for a lifetime, and in four decades he was seen as a director in front of the camera (in his screen debut Leichte Kavalerie), as a film director, ship passenger, worker, policeman, servant, official, cleric, artist, notary, gardener and even as a Gestapo man. Teitge, who remained in his hometown Potsdam after the Second World War, has since since been seen in a plethora of DEFA productions such as DFF television films and has appeared in front of the camera with roles of old men until the very end, immediately before his death.
