Cathy Shim (born July 18, 1980 in Seoul, South Korea) is an American actress of South Korean descent. Cathy Shim's family moved to the United States when she was three years old. She studied piano playing at the Colburn School of Performing Arts and at the University of Southern California; she also completed her medical studies and studied acting at the USC School of Theatre.Shim made her debut as a television actress in 2003 in the comedy show Reno 911!, in which she has been involved since then.In the short film A Cigar at the Beach (2006), which received several festival prizes, she took over one of the main roles The Gymnast (2006), in which she appeared in a small role, produced her. In the crime comedy Reno 911! created by the show Reno 911!: Miami (2007) with Danny DeVito, she played a woman who Deputy Travis Junior (Robert Ben Garant) dreams of. In the action comedy Balls of Fury (2007) with Christopher Walken and Maggie Q, she impersonated a North Korean diplomat. In the comedy 3Way (2008) she played alongside Maeve Quinlan and Jill Bennett the leading role of a woman who lives in a lesbian three-way relationship. In 2009, the comedies White on Rice and The People I've Slept With were released, in which she played larger roles. In 2012, she had a small role as an Asian housewife in The Watch – neighbors of the 3rd kind.
